It was time to say farewell to Grenada but not goodbye. Our plans, at the moment, were to return to Grenada for next hurricane season.
This has been a really nice season as we have made many new cruiser friends, reconnected with our local friends, and caught up with other cruisers returning for the season.
Cruiser Connections
Ladies’ Coffee
I enjoyed the weekly Ladies’ Coffee at Knife and Fork Restaurant, Port Louis Marina. These meetings allowed female cruisers to become acquainted as well as discuss issues unique to their lives, seek help with projects, and plan activities together. Fun was had by all, but it doesn’t end in Grenada. Since we have all become friends, Ladies’ Coffee moves up the island chain with us.
Currently, ladies are gathering in Bequia! Hope to see you guys soon at Sugar and Spice on Thursday at 9:30. It’s a tradition that can be implemented on any island where two or more female cruisers find themselves.

The Lunch Bunches at the Container Park were another way to connect with cruisers all across the island. In addition, it’s a great place to enjoy some really good food!

Hopefully we can recreate this event next hurricane season. Because of these connections, we run into people we know as we travel through the islands These special relationships add to the fun of cruising as well as provide assistance to one another when needed. The cruising community is a unique group of people who are friendly and helpful to others that they meet anywhere in the Caribbean and beyond.
Other Good Times
Sabrina Frances
We also like to participate in local events and try out new eateries. We went to the Bay House to see one of our favorite singers, Sabrina Francis. It also was a farewell to our friends Tyler and Cassie, before they headed back to the States. We will miss our fun Farckle nights with them! Safe travels friends!

473 Flavors Restaurant
Our local friend, Clarke, recommended this new restaurant located close to the Food Fair complex. It turned out to be a great find. The food was wonderful and economical. The first time we ate there, it was “pre-lunch” so the extensive menu was not available. Therefore, we feasted on the local fare of chicken stew. It was delightful. Later we went back after 1:00 pm so that we could sample their menu. It was everything that Clarke had indicated!

Savy’s Beach Cabana at Mount Cinnamon Beach Resort
Our new friends on Sea Rabbit, Shaun and Anne took us to this little beachside restaurant and it turned out to be a gem. The water was too rough to get in, but we enjoyed the view, the breeze, the food, and the company!

Island Visitors
We had been hoping all season that Jacintha, a work colleague who grew up in Grenada, would come for a visit while we were here. However, at the last minute she was unable to make the trip. Nevertheless, her good friend Eileen, as well as Hank came anyway. So we got to show them some of our favorite places in Grenada and make new land friends from New Jersey/New York.
We took them to Concord Falls and it turned out to be a lovely day! We are really hoping that these falls do not get ruined when they put in the new waterline that will go all the way down the mountainside and across the island to the airport. They were laying the pipe during this hurricane season. So, the roads were a mess and getting to Concord was quite the feat as the detour took us straight up a single lane road, no wider than a driveway, with V-angle turns! We were all glad Ben is such a good driver!
I hope they enjoyed their visit to Grenada as much as we enjoyed getting to know them!

Nat’s Pizza—Off the beaten path
Nat’s Pizza, up on the hillside, was always an experience with its outdoor kitchen and rustic tables and benches. So when our friends James and Danielle mentioned going, we jumped at the opportunity to go again! We kidnapped Tim and piled into the car. Don’t forget to bring your plates, drinks and cutlery because all Nat serves is pizza, pasta and a few desserts!

Pizza Italia
Our local friend, Nirvana, suggested we also try the pizza at Pizza Italia located at The Woodlands. So, we grabbed Danielle, James and Cuz John and traversed the island to this outdoor eatery. She was right! The pizza was delicious, and the cool breeze made for a lovely evening! We will be back!

Delectable Food with our Friends
Sometimes we get super lucky and other boaters invite us to dinner. We had some amazing Pork Schnitzel that Anne cooked on SV Sea Rabbit.
Tyler and Cassie on SV Vagari treated us to some of Nirvana’s homemade pasta. It was scrumptious and no one went away hungry!
In addition, Jasmine next door on SV Fram, used her culinary skills to whip up a dinner for Ben, Tim and I as a thank you to them helping her with her boat. I’m always available when someone else wants to cook. HA!

New Recipes!
Being on dock, with access to a car and grocery stores provided me with the opportunity to cook some of our favorite recipes as well as try out some new ones.
Of course, we had Adrian’s lobster and snapper which we obtained at the market on Saturdays at Port Louis Marina. His lobster and fish were the freshest on the island!
We grilled the lobster! It was tender and sweet!

Then we had friends over for Amy Strebel’s Famous Fish Tacos. The snapper and tacos were scrumptious. Thank goodness our freezer is still full of additional snapper for our journey north.
I also honed my skills by making some new recipes. These have been shared through previous blogs under the tab, Recipes.
Broccoli Cauliflower Bacon Salad
Spicy Black Bean and Corn Salad
Delicious Sauteed Butternut Squash
Give a few of these a try. I bet you won’t be disappointed!
Getting Ready to Depart Dock for New Adventures
Of course, hanging in Grenada for hurricane season was not all fun and games. There was a list of annual tasks that must be completed to ensure Daggers Down was ready for the next sailing season. Ben has worked tirelessly completing tasks such as:
- Checking all lines, lifelines, hatches, etc. and replacing as needed
- Checking and remaking the bridles, if needed
- Checking the windless and repainting the anchor chain with depth markers
- Cleaning the dinghy and checking lifting eyes as well as servicing the motor and battery
- Filling the jerry cans with diesel and gas (for dinghy)
- Having the sails inspected, repaired and cleaned as well as removing them for storage and reinstalling them
- Replacing the burned-out anchor light
- Servicing engines and generator such as replacing oil and corroded parts/wires
This definitely is not an exhaustive list, but I think you got the idea!
Time to say farewell
If all goes well, we will be pushing off from the dock soon! We are spending the last weeks saying so long to our friends. Some of them we may never see again, but our time together is forever embedded in our memories. Some we hope to see along the way as we head north, and some cruiser friends and locals that we will certainly connect with when we return to Grenada. Its time…. Let the 2025-26 Caribbean Cruising Season Begin!
